Physiology is the study of how the different systems of the body work independently and together in response to the environment. This three-part course is designed to introduce the yoga teacher or student to the basic principles of physiology in the context of stress in our environment and the practice of yoga. The brain (nervous system/autonomics), the heart, and the breath are studied in individual two-hour sessions that each focus on pertinent anatomical structures, physiology of organ systems and their response to the yoga practice and the external environment, and common diseases and contraindications within yoga.

DETAILS

This is a three-part course. Sessions can be attended individually or in succession.

*A two-hour optional practicum covering teaching applications of the physiology material is offered on Sunday to those who attend all three Saturday sessions.

Come prepared to take notes. All other supplies will be provided.

This event is appropriate for all students and teachers of yoga and other mind/body practices.
